Opening Line: “Something wasn’t right. Either it was too long or too … thick.”
Overall: Remi Drysdale is a former ballet dancer who, after a disastrous mixing-business-with-pleasure incident in Australia, is now a Barre Class instructor in New York City. Wes Evans comes from an important family in the ballet world but is trying to achieve some success on his own. However, the only press he can get right now is about his love life, after the Bad Bachelor app has named him,”The Anaconda”. Wes brings his niece to a class at the studio Remi teaches at at. He sees her dancing and feels an instant attraction to her, and also sees what a talented dancer she is. He asks her to audition for the lead in the unique ballet show he is trying to get off the ground. Remi is very reluctant to audition for his show, but she agrees to do it, and then realizes how much she really does miss dancing professionally and performing. Remi and Wes are both very attracted to eachother right from their first meeting. However, they are both trying not to get involved in a personal relationship that could ruin their careers. Wes is trying to distance himself from the Bad Bachelor app and trying to prove to his famous family that he can fund and product a great show without their help. Remi is very guarded and hurt after what happened in her last relationship at work… how it imploded and had her moving to America to get away from it. But, of course, Wes and Remi have major chemistry together and that causes all kinds of problems for them both while they try to navigate their magnetic feelings for eachother while trying to work together in the show and be professionals.
Ovations: When I started reading this book, the second one in the “Bad Bachelor’s Series”, I realized what the author’s cute concept was here. I loved the idea that the books all are about 3 girlfriends living in New York City. The first book, Bad Bachelor, (click on that link to read my review of that first book), focuses on one of the friends, Darcy. This second book now focuses on another of the girlfriends, Remi. So, I assume that the third book in the series will focus on the third girlfriend of the trio, Anne. I enjoy this fun concept idea because from reading the first book, I already know all 3 ladies, and I like them. I want to know more about their back stories and also what happens to them all in the future. How does this Bad Bachelor app keep affecting their lives? Do they all stay friends or do problems cause their friendships to end? Do they find great men to be with or do they end up single?
Oh Well: Even though this book is centered in the dance world, which I did enjoy, I just did not like this book in the series as much as I did the first one. This book focused a lot on their careers and personal internal issues, and less on their personal relationship with eachother. I also feel that the relationship between Wes and Remi was just not as fun or as sexy as the relationship between Reed & Darcy in Bad Bachelor. There was still a lot of hot sex in this book, but the main characters of the book were more serious, and it was not written with as much banter and sizzle as the flirty relationship in the first book.
Opinion: I always love a romance with a handsome bad boy as the male lead! So, I am enjoying this three book series so far. Unfortunately, this book did not measure up to how great the first book in this series was. But, I am still going to read the third book to find out what happens with the last of the friends, Annie. Rating: 7 out of 10
